Аннотация: Women all over the world are faced with complex of physical, social and emotional challenges during child birth and this may result into myriad of mental health related problems. One of such problems is postpartum depression which occurs mostly after the second week after birth and this may have profound consequences on the mother, the new borne and the entire family. Women who suffer from postpartum depression may perceive their quality of live as poor in terms of their socio-cultural context, emotional and physical well-being. This may have an effect on health promotion programmes such as taking their children for routine immunization prevent childhood killer diseases, service delivery and impact of mental illnesses on both social and occupational functioning of these women. There are a number of factors that determine the occurrence of postpartum depression and also affecting the perception of quality of life. Knowing these associated factors, women and the society at large is better equipped to mitigate against postpartum depression. This book offers explanation and recommendation to issues of quality of life and postpartum depression.
