Application of ICT in College Libraries. A Study on the Libraries of Government Aided General Degree Colleges in Barrackpore Subdivision, West Bengal, India

      Аннотация: Improving of ICT has brought a revolutionary change in every sphere of life. The applications of ICT in libraries improve the provision of library and information resources and services. Using ICT, libraries have not only observed remarkable changes in their daily operations and services but also identified a new and active role for libraries. It facilitates speedy library operations, services and access to and delivery of information. The users of college libraries are mainly young generation learners; they prefer ICT based services to traditional services. The researcher’s practical experiences in college libraries were assigned to look after the current approach of library system. This book, therefore, explores the components of ICT applications in the college libraries, various operations and services provided by the college libraries using various ICT tools. It has identified the diverse problems faced by the college libraries during its implementation and services extended through ICT tools. It also intends to be a comprehensive guide that can be used to guide the library and its professionals for providing better services to the users through ICT based tools.
