Аннотация: Despite intensive research efforts for several decades, the etiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) still remains unknown. The present monograph is a collection of papers that investigated visual impairments in AD, which are less well-known but are gaining gradual recognition as a common feature of this disease. The research reported here are directed particularly at high-level visual deficits involving the capacities to process structure-from-motion, dynamic occlusion, and optic flow. The monograph also includes a paper that explored affordance perception deficit in schizophrenia. Recognized as the most baffling mental disease in the field of psychiatry, its etiology is still unknown as that of AD. It is hoped that the findings reported here stimulate further empirical research into high-level visual impairments in AD and schizophrenia to gain greater understanding of these complex disorders.
