Аннотация: Partition is not something which we can ignore but it has occupied a significant place in the cultural and historical discourse of our country. The discussions on the Partition which generally address religious fanaticism, colonial chicanery, results of wrong decisions, futility of violence, loss of human life, contest over power sharing, conflict between India and Pakistan etc. may help us to solve some of the contemporary problems and pave the way for a better future. As the Partition is chief issue in the history of India, we have many historical books, biographical narratives and or narratives through which we get the factual information about the Partition out of which historical books are more than other sources. Even the creative writers who witnessed the Partition and who heard from others about it gave a fictional account of the Partition. It was not only division of properties, of assets and liabilities, but of hearts and minds.
