Аннотация: The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of December 2015’s Devaluation Policy in South Sudan (the case of Jonglei State). The study was guided by specific objectives: to examine the nature of December 2015’s Devaluation policy; to assess the major effects of the policy; to investigate the major factors behind devaluation; and to ascertain the level of policy implementation and the challenges being faced by policy implementers in South Sudan with regard to current devaluation policy. Based on the findings gathered in this study, it was deliberately pursued by the government in attempt to bolster the already staggering economy. Furthermore, this policy was mistimed since it was launched at the time when the economy was totally in distress; it was facing a serious meltdown. The study further showed that devaluation policy has caused a lot of harm to the country’s economy rather than good. It had led not only to abnormal increase in the prices of all items across the country, but also despicable sufferings of the citizens and closure of several businesses across the nation.
