Cultural Paradigms in Nigerian Literature.

      Аннотация: This book is a collection of essays that try to interrogate some of the cultural models and values of African. This book also did a diasporic study of the plights of Africans in diaspora and their dilemma in negotiating their ways before the western culture and African culture. Harmful cultural practices especially those targeted against women constitute part of the major discourses in Africa African literature. Harmful traditional practices like female circumcision otherwise known as female genital mutilation, forced marriages, domestic violence, sacrifice of women to a deity to mention but a few are some of the traditional cultural practices that have held sway in African society for a long. Literature is applied in this study as a veritable tool that can be used to humanized the African society. In doing this, this book evaluates the harmful cultural practices depicted in the plays: A Scar for Life by Barclays Ayokoroma and The Wives’ Revolt by J.P Clark. The idea of disillusionment is a re-occurring theme in post-colonial diasporic Africa Literature. The expectation is that at the demise of slavery and colonialism the world will assimilate equally its citizens.
