Аннотация: Study of students patterns of library use directed towards the discipline and cognitive contexts is analyzed in this work. Analyzing the two contexts of university students is vital to understand how academic libraries are being used and what kinds of patterns they constitute. In this aspect, the author of this book (K.G.D.A. Karunanayake) has reviewed his previous publications and doctoral research outcomes for this work. Contents include practical findings of a doctoral research work as well as ideas discussed in the publications: “Cognitive Context: Paucity of personal traits in information search which addressed only the cognitive aspect. Taking a further step, the study connects discipline context and cognitive context with several modes of library use. Relationship between the discipline, cognitive contexts and mode of library use are clarified by three objectives: the discipline and cognitive context relating students’ library use, the correlation between the students’ discipline and cognitive contexts and attitude / mode of library use, and the existing patterns of library use (discipline and cognitive contexts and mode of library use) among students.
