Аннотация: On regards to our work carried out on optimization of the protection in DWDM transmission network case study CAMTEL which covers if a component or optical link fails, it is essential to provide uninterrupted communication between any two nodes in the network. Several techniques exist to provide reliable services in the occurrence or failures. The most common protection technique carried out here are assigning spare capacity and bypassed equipment. This research and implementation focuses on providing a channel and equipment protection against single failures for networks with or without wavelength converters. In this study a new protection technique is introduced by bypassing all the equipment's along transmission and also based on the 1:N spare capacity assignment and this has been incorporated in RWANCO (routing and wavelength assignment and network cost optimization). These methods involve changing the protection wavelength and bypassing faulty equipment's after each failure. Also, the study investigates the effect of this changing wavelength which introduces some blocking in the network. We also evaluate the protection switching time for the different cases.
