Expanding Security Approach: A Solution to Nigerian Insecurities.

      Аннотация: There are many security challenges facing Nigerian national security and society. The Nigerian security approach is mainly military-oriented whereby military and paramilitary forces have been effective tools of state to combat various threats (challenges) inherent in the country. This article argues for the need to expand the Nigerian security approach from being reactionary and military-oriented to effectualize multidimensionality of security in order to cater for all security sectors in the country. The significance of interconnectedness of security sectors reviews the impossibility of treating multidimensional threats (challenges) with the use of military and paramilitary forces alone. Every security sector in Nigeria is faulty and each sector has to be adequately improved together with identification of level of analysis involve in order to enjoy minimum level of security. Nigerian government, people and non-state actors must see security from a broader (expanded) perspective in order to cater for all security sectors in the country.
