Аннотация: By writing this book, I would most importantly like to bring your attention to the quest for happiness in our society. We will look at the general consequences of neoliberalism from a psychological, sociological, spiritual, economical and philosophical point of view, all the while diving into several contemporary issues such as: inequalities, the mechanisms of advertising and media, consumerism, and environmental issues, among others. At the foundation of mainstream economics exists a certain "homo economicus", a theoretical entity which supposedly represents you, me, and everyone else who plays a part in our economy. Through many interesting behavioral experiments and examples by which we will study the workings of "homo economicus", we will slowly come to a fascinating conclusion. Let us explore the roots of happiness and the possible reasons for the growing levels of depression and anxiety prevalent in our society today. Could "homo reciprocans" be the key to a more durable well-being and positive growth in our society?
