Аннотация: This book aims to share home grown experiences and best practices of AMRC CBR Program towards promoting and ensuring equitable, quality education for blind and visually impaired children at primary and secondary schools in Southern Ethiopia. The book discusses briefly the existing opportunities in the country and what has been done so far in the field. It highlights the challenges existing in the education system that in turn put pressure in their schooling .It further underlines the importance of availability of resource centers, organized libraries with books in Braille formats, qualified regular and itinerant teachers in SNE, interpreters, Braille and O&M trainers, educational psychologists in the system. Hence the author recommends the creation of inclusive friendly-welcoming school environment for all children; removal of all barriers from the education system at all levels and supporting parents of these children in livelihood, health, social aspects and to empower them to exercise their rights in matters affecting their lives and take the leading role in changing the negative attitudes of the community against persons with disabilities.
