Аннотация: The present study has been undertaken to study the effect of silver nitrate om different aspects of plant tissue culture. The important medicinal plants are becoming extinct and endangered due to profound exploitation and propagation in responses. Commercial production and conservative propagation is vulnerable due to its poor seed feasibility, lower rate of seed germination and poor rooting capability of vegetative cuttings. Substitute propagation methods would be favorable in accelerating large scale multiplication, enhancement and preservation. In general, closed vessels are used in plant tissue culture to avoid contamination. But, it may cause abnormal plant growth due to ethylene gas accumulation in culture vessels. Ethylene produced in in vitro plant culture systems is known to inhibit plant morphogenesis depending upon species and culture stage. To overcome this problem, a potential inhibitor like silver nitrate has been used in tissue culture media. Hence, the effect of silver nitrate on synthetic propagation of this medicinally important plant was under taken for the first time to standardize the protocol for micropropagation.
