Аннотация: This study identifies the work attitudes and behaviour of Nigerian workers as well as determine their sources. The desire to conduct the study derived from the disquiet among members of the Nigerian Public that Nigerian workers, particularly those employed in the public sector of the economy exhibit negative work attitudes and behaviours. The overriding objectives of the study were therefore: First to establish whether the public sector worker displays more negative work attitudes and behaviours than the worker employed in the private sector of the economy. Second, the study sought to identify the sources of those negative work attitudes and behaviours with the aim of suggesting methods of improvement. The investigation was carried out in three Nigerian organizations, a private sector enterprise, a public sector organization and a government parastatal. The main purpose was to show which establishment exhibited most negative work attitudes. The study was centered on managerial personnel only as this cadre of staff is, to a large extent, responsible for the work attitudes and behaviours displayed by other employees.
