Аннотация: This book describes the literature review and research findings on cardioplegic solution and its roles in preserving hearts during ischaemia and Reperfusion. Hypothermic cardioplegia is a solution that contains different types of chemicals that have the potential to provide energy and preserve hearts during ischaemia when the heart is denied oxygen supply and as well protecting the heart should it be subsequently supplied with oxygen by Reperfusion. The research described in this book investigated the effectiveness of L-Aspartate in minimizing ischaemic and Reperfusion injury to hearts subjected to Hypothermic Cardioplegia. It also presents in the form of Literature Review some other studies conducted on Cardioplegic solution using various chemical compositions that have Cardioprotective effects during cardiac ischaemic arrest. This book is therefore useful and recommended for Medical Practitioners and students, mostly those in the fields of cardiac Pathology and Cardiology researchers and also students in the Allied Health Professions.
