Аннотация: Quantity surveyors play a vital role in the construction industry and built environment in terms of managing and controlling costs of projects. The role of quantity surveyors has evolved as a result of the rapid changes in the business environment. Changes in the clients’ needs and market, intense competition, political forces, and advances in ICT are some of the key environmental forces that impact on the role of quantity surveyors. The quantity surveyor has evolved from practicing only the traditional role to practicing both the traditional and non-traditional roles within and outside the construction industry. Despite many research on the role of quantity surveying, very few empirical research on the role quantity surveying has been conducted in St. Lucia. This book therefore provides an assessment of the role of quantity surveying in general and in particular in the context of Saint Lucia. In addition, the book further emphasizes the importance of environmental analysis, and key environmental forces at work impacting on the quantity surveying role. Furthermore, this book provides some of the key strategies that are available to quantity surveyors for competitive advantage.
