Аннотация: The progression of hazard to a disaster also depends on the interference of man with the environment which impact always has a negative outcome. The outbreak of new diseases, such HIV/AIDS in the 21st century, added new hazards to a very long list of the pre-existed and have made the community more vulnerable to acquiring others diseases that were about to be declared defeated, e.g. tuberculosis, Kaposi’s sarcoma, Cryptococcal meningitis, etc. While it should not be considered as the only gateway for acquiring other diseases, the lack of hygiene is also highlighted to be the cause of diarrhoea, urinary tract infections, cholera and typhoid fever. It is well known that healthy people can cope and prevent a disaster when sick people cannot and that an environment that is contaminated with waste is a serious hazard to the community. From the vulnerability, disaster risk assessment, disaster risk reduction, community participation, copying capacity, resilience and several other health issues are addressed in this book and involving the army in waste management, since during peacetime they do not have much to do, the battalion may rotate monthly according to their roster.
