Аннотация: The present book delineates the route to freedom in two African American literary works one written and published in the nineteenth century namely Frederick Douglass's Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Written by Himself (1845) and the other written and published in the twentieth century namely Alex Haley's Roots (1976). The thesis is the first to connect both works of art though they are recommended to those interested in American slavery and the cause of freedom and equality.
