Аннотация: The conceptual grounds of medical geology as a science that studies the mechanism and dynamics of the interaction between human and geological environment and the result of this interaction - the health and life in terms of the impact of geological processes have been summarized. Authors determined main hydrogeological regions of Ukraine, features of geological and hydrogeological rocks sections and regional regularities of hydrogeological conditions, the chemical composition of drinking groundwater and its impact on population health. The problems of groundwater supply in Ukraine and the impact of its consumption on the human health have been described. The impact of the chemical composition of drinking and mineral waters on population health has been outlined. The features of microelements assimilation and their role for a human body have been reviewed. The book overviews endemic diseases in the result of deficiency or excess of chemical elements in drinking water. The hazards to population health due to the malfunction of local water supply systems have been estimated. Scientific and methodological grounds of medical and geological monitoring in Ukraine have been developed.
