Аннотация: Women are the vital elements of the society. Today, they are not merely wives and mothers, but also the leaders of our society and machineries of civilization. Women represent half of the world’s human resource. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru rightly said, “When women moves forward the family moves, the village moves and the nation moves”. The position and status of women in any society is an index of the socio- economic and cultural achievements of that society. The socio economic status of women in the country has been characterized by low female literacy, distressing health, nutritional deficiencies and declining share to the total population. The development of the society majorly depends on the women status in the society. Microfinance revolution in India is recognized as a powerful tool for poverty alleviation and womenmpowerment. Private sector Micro finance institutions has emerged as a financial services providers to cater the need of poor people who is remained un-served by the Public sector financial institutions. At this juncture there is a need to study the impact of private microfinance on socio economic conditions of women and poverty elimination .
