South-South Development Cooperation and the Development of Africa:. A Sino-Cameroon Perspective

      Аннотация: Within the context of SSDC, this book explores the nature, scope, effectiveness and the socio-economic impact of official development assistance (ODA) emanating from emerging powers on the development of African countries. As such, a close analysis of Sino-Cameroon development cooperation (DC) permits one to affirm that, this DC presents opportunities and challenges, a direct and indirect effect on development and appears to be complimentary and competitive. However, given the need for additional external financial resources to meet the SDGs, as well as the hope of being an emerging nation “United in its Diversity” by 2035, Cameroon should utilize remittance from its Diaspora as an alternative to ODA, identify possible synergies and complementarities among partners to enhance positive outcomes. Having a contribution in the study of SSDC diplomacy and with regards on the new dynamics of the international system where the defense of national interest and the quest of sustainable development constitute the objectives of the foreign policy of any country, this book is recommended to researchers in the field of DC, bureaucrats, civil society organizations and the public.
