Аннотация: The present study indicates that combined Papsmear and HPV DNA test screening is necessary for all women in their reproductive age above 30 years to detect preinvasive cancer cervix lesions early and to arrest the progress in the initial stages. Awareness camps are suggested before cancer screening camps to get good voluntary response from the public because most of the women are reluctant to get per speculum and per vaginal examination when they are asymptomatic. Carcinoma of cervix is a preventable disease as it is visible and accessible for screening. HPV DNA test is more sensitive and Papsmear test is more specific. Hence combined testing can be useful to avoid over treatment like hysterectomy . Persistence of HPV infection or high risk HPV infections like HPV16 and HPV 18 needs early diagnosis and treatment of preinvasive lesions through follow up studies. Periodical papsmear examination is more useful to detect early changes like dysplasias in their transition stage to invasive lesions of cervical carcinoma. The Colposcopic examination and treatment with cryocautery or LEEP are simple measures which can eradicate premalignant lesions in early stage.
