Аннотация: Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis (LCH) a proliferative disorder of histiocyte, encompassing spectrum of clinical manifestations, histologically composed of cells having the phenotypic markers of Langerhans’ cells. Owing to the absence of pathognomonic clinical and radiological features this disease is frequently misdiagnosed with many jaw diseases which lead to delay in diagnosis. Therefore proper diagnostic protocol followed by multidisciplinary approach is imperative to institute early therapy. The descriptions provided in the book are a reminder of the possibility of occurrence of this rare disease in the oral cavity which might manifest itself in multiple presentations, thus easily leading to misdiagnosis and being overlooked by the diagnostician. The controversies pertaining to pathogenesis has been addressed in this compilation with special emphasis on histopathology and immunohistochemistry. This should help professionals like Medicine specialists, Orthopaedicians, Haematologists, Pathologists and Dental surgeons to acquire knowledge of pathogenesis, approach to diagnosis and advanced treatment modalities of Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis.
