Аннотация: This study derives its significance mainly from its relevance as a key aspect in the study of Nigeria and multinational organizations. It can also be adduced that the study further derives its significance from the fact that the OAU as it was then called represented more than just a regional political organization but also had socioeconomic implication which stems perhaps more from its history as a Pan-African organization. Besides, the general history of Africa especially its colonial aspect, which left much to be desired, also posed an economic challenge after colonialism. Thus, so much can be said to make this study worthwhile. The scope for this study will take cognizance of two important variables: the time-frame which the study has set for itself, and the geographical space it has also set for itself. The period 1963-90 which the study covers is an important element of its scope. It is the duty of this research to see what the date 1963 represents to both the OAU and Nigeria and on the other end what 1990 also represents to same places, but above all what transpired between the OAU and Nigeria and perhaps the consequences that followed.
