Influence of Community Participation on Successful Project Completion.

      Аннотация: Community participation is critical in aligning Kenya’s development to the Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was enacted in the year 2003 to spur development across the country and has been the precursor to the devolution process brought about by the new constitution in 2010. The whole idea behind CDF formulation was to ensure equitable economic and social development across the country and at the same time give citizens the opportunity to identify and implement projects that address their needs. And although the CDF Act has created an opportunity for Kenyans to directly participate in national development, the challenge has been; the communities don’t seem to be playing their rightful role in projects identification, designing and implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The CDF projects have also not been successfully completed in time and in a cost-effective manner. This book attempts to explore the influence of community participation on successful completion of projects.
