Cancer patients have been burdened by drug induced toxic side effects, and none turned to seek help from the complementary and alternative medicine hoping for a better cure. Research on Platinum based drugs and Non Platinum based drugs is a Multi-million Dollar Industry in USA and there is every need to produce safe drugs for the cure of this monstrous disease.The anticancer activity of the platinum-based complex, cisplatin was discovered in the 1960s. The semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones usually behave as chelating ligands containing donor imines groups which react with transition metal vacant d-orbital giving complexes. These are multifunctional ligands in both neutral and anionic forms. The complexes can exhibit bioactivities which are not shown by the free ligands.
