Аннотация: Obesity is the fastest growing modern age pandemic. Morbid obesity is a disease, which directly influences the development of comorbid diseases; it causes the appearance of complications in different visceral systems, and, with already developed comorbid diseases, makes them more complex and prolongs their treatment. Obese patients have a lower quality of life and a shortened life expectancy. The paradigm connected with the treatment of obesity has been changed very slowly and painstakingly. Historically, bariatric surgeons and their results have been relativised by the surgical public, non-surgical clinical branches and the primary health care as well. The decision to write the book is the fruit of dozens of years of surgical work and, in particular, a delight in bariatric surgery. We have tried to show that these surgeries are similar in technical details of performance to gastric and intestinal surgeries, but different in relation to morbid obesity due to their indications. With this book, we would like to encourage you to take up bariatric surgery. Rest assured that you would be introduced to a surgery, which is like no other.
