Аннотация: A common phenomenon that has engaged the attention of scholars and communication experts is the role of media in the society. It is in this vein that the author's appetite was whipped to research into the role of radio and their contribution to social development. The impetus of this research was to underscore the programmes that are designed to meet the social needs of the people of Central Region and to ascertain the impact of these programmes on the listeners. The researcher used interviews and administered 106 questionnaires to respondents in three different communities. Based on the results of the findings, it was concluded that radio stations have programmes that are geared towards social development and that radio has largely made tremendous effort to impact positively on social development awareness in the Central Region.
