Аннотация: In urban areas all over the world, various land uses tend to compete for excellent locations. Urban planners are faced with the challenge of resolving this competition to avoid chaos. In order to avoid conflicts, urban planners made several efforts to zone land uses into particular functions such as commercial, public, residential, transportation, industrial and recreation. The zoning of urban land uses determines the locations of human activities such as living, working, shopping, education and leisure. The book is very useful for students, town planners, transportation planners, city planning authority managers, politicians and other policy makers. The book would inform city planning authorities about the risks of uncontrolled development in urban areas and the need to strengthen development control measures to cope with haphazard development within the city. By going through the book, the policy makers would encourage on the need to formulate policies that would favour even spread of road network development and re-zoning of some areas in Makurdi urban, Nigeria. The book would contribute to the knowledge base in road network development studies.
