Systemic Textlinguistics of Agary's Yellow-Yellow and Darko's Faceless.

      Аннотация: Systemic Textlinguistics is a viable approach in the study of the second order text. This study, therefore, did an in-depth textlinguistic study of Kaine Agary’s Yellow-Yellow and Amma Darko’s Faceless, using Adejare’s (1992) Systemic Textlinguistic model. The study aimed to investigate how the authors were able to creatively use English within the semiotic universe of the texts to project their message. The literature relevant to the study were reviewed under the following headings: (a) Linguistic Readings of Agary,s Yellow-Yellow and Darko’s Faceless (b) Works anchored on systemic textlinguistics and other functional linguistic models. Textual data were extracted at random, using the concepts of “projection” and “procedure” as postulated by Adejare (1992) and analyzed using the three meta-levels of language: primitive, second order and the prime order levels. The findings revealed that the message of the novels was projected at the primitive order level, using lexis, syntax and textual structure. At the second order levels, using proper names, nicknames, titles, dialogue and actions;so also at the prime order level.
