Аннотация: This book is concerned with what regional and national approaches are set in place to combat terrorism in IGAD sub-region. The main objective of this book is to identify and understand IGAD’s regional and member states national approaches to fight terrorism? The rationale behind the research is geared towards the growing threat of terrorism in the IGAD region since the 90’s and the recent phenomenon of terrorism happening in the horn of Africa, which requires a great attention and academic researches. As a result, the book will answer the question of what are the existing counter-terrorism approaches in the region and the challenges that hinder effective counter-terrorism. The book has made use of a qualitative research as its methodology. As a result, the book in its findings discuss that the region makes use of an approach which is “fighting terror through justice”, a type of approach which deals with terrorist attacks and movements through a criminal justice system and treats terrorism as a transnational crime. It also believes that the crime of terrorism can be handled through mutual legal assistance and extradition convention.
