Аннотация: This manual is a resource which can be used by dentists and clinicians and health science students who can provide brief as well as detailed counseling sessions to tobacco users for quitting their tobacco consumption habits. This manual uses a combination standardized of motivational interviewing and behavioral therapeutic approaches along with suggestions which may be offered as practical solutions to tobacco users to give up their habit. This resource may not be relevant universally to all tobacco users but it employs frequently used standardized approaches to tobacco use habit cessation and recovery from tobacco use addiction. Tobacco cessation proper, attempt to cease tobacco use , reduction in amount of tobacco consumed or increased desire to cease tobacco use among tobacco users can all be considered as successful outcome of this manual. India differs from international tobacco use model due to excessive smokeless tobacco consumption.The content of this manual is derived from various references; standardized recommendations from Tobacco Intervention Initiative, WHO and several other acknowledged resources are summarized , re arranged and modified as per Indian context.
