Аннотация: Forest fires have influenced forests since these were first recorded. Some of forests have evolved due to these fires but others were susceptible.Forest fires therefore play a major role in constituting a forest and its bio-diversity. There has been increase in incidences of forest fires not only in India but throughout world necessitating their strategic management. This book is outcome of experience gained by the author working in H.P. Forest Department and exposure to forests, forestry and forest fire management across India. However working as Project Director at National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi instigated him to come up with this book on modern concepts of forest fire management.Book comprises nine chapters illustrating latest information on forest fires and strategies employed in their management. Forest fires in recent past have taken proportion of a disaster. Accordingly, Disaster Management Continuum as contained in the National Policy on Disaster Management, 2009 has been suggested for strategic management of forest fires. Although book is based on illustrations and examples from India but principles and strategies on forest fire can be used globally.
