      Аннотация: The book highlights the impact of the women benefited government programmes like DWCRA being implemented for the upliftment of women, especially in rural areas. The author makes an incisive analysis to understand the status and the living standards of the poor and downtrodden rural women and the way they are coming forward to avail benefits of these programme. The study goes through various aspects to depict the position of women and their activities both within and outside the home, their cultural and traditional patterns and their attitudes and approaches. This well-researched work brings out an understanding not only about the impact of the women programmes with regard to education, employment, health and social status etc., but also about the expectations and suggestions of the respondent women in the context of more effective implementation of the programmes.
