Intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy in Bamenda.

      Аннотация: Malaria in pregnancy is an immense public health problem and is responsible for stillbirths, miscarriages, low birth weights and anaemia. Intermittent Preventive Treatment of Malaria in Pregnancy with Sulphadoxine-Pyrimethamine (IPTp-SP) has proven to be efficacious in preventing malaria and its adverse effects on pregnancy, but its uptake is low. This book gives an insight into the factors associated with the uptake of (IPTp-SP). Reasons, why the uptake is still low despite the drug, is given free of charge. It also gives an estimate of the uptake rates of the drug in the Bamenda health district.
