Vocationalising English for Employability of Indian Graduates. An Investigative Study

      Аннотация: This book investigates the Policy of Vocationalisation of First Degree Education in India (1993) which offers English as a vocational subject. The evolving trends in globalization and human resource management necessitates that the workforce have updated, market-friendly skills and multi-faceted capabilities. Vocationalisation of education is therefore seen as an extended way to develop courses that will address the mismatch between the capabilities of a typical graduate and the requirements of the employment scenario. It provides insights into how skills training is imparted and identifies the skillsets needed for academic vertical mobility as well as employability in diverse jobs options taken up by vocational Functional English graduates. Generic and transferable skills are identified and classified as a route map for the development of high level professional skills using appropriate methodology and learning materials that can be developed for specific contexts.
