Аннотация: This book entitled ‘Sustainability in the Management of Community Projects’ does not merely guide managers, but carries them in a practical way through the maze of the sustainability management process. This, therefore, is a very convenient book, presented in simple, direct language, and is carefully thought out and meticulously researched. The main aim of the book is to balance the debate around sustainability management. The book questions why community management is widely adopted as a bottom-top strategy to ensure the sustainability of community projects, yet over 65% of these projects still face sub-optimal sustainability. In furtherance of this, this book sets out to provide a workable or functional definition of sustainability and its varied conceptualisation, comprehensive discussion on why sustainability in the management of community projects has proven to be a challenging task, and a framework for enhancing the sustainability in the management of community projects. This book comes to satisfy the felt needs of NGO project evaluators, practitioners and managers who face difficulties reconciling sustainability and unsustainability paradigms.
