      Аннотация: Medicinal chemistry is a science whose roots lie in all branches of chemistry and biology. It concerns essentially the understanding and explanation of the mechanism of the actions of drugs. On this basis it attempts to establish relationship between chemical structure and biological activity and to link biodynamic behavior to the chemical reactivity and physical properties of therapeutic agents. Medicinal chemistry also involves the isolation, characterization and synthesis of the compounds that can be used in medicine for the prevention, treatment and cure of disease. Medicinal chemistry thus provides the chemical bases for the interdisciplinary field of therapeutics.The need for better and more effective drugs has greatly increased research in medicinal science because both the scientists and the sponsors of their work realize that the odds of success may be proportional to the amount of work performed.The prime purpose of this book is to present a systematic knowledge of the most recent literature on various organic scaffolds and their analogues as biologically active.
