Аннотация: In Nigeria, the occurrence and complications of obesity like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and arthritis are increasing. Aim: To develop intervention strategies for prevention of obesity, its metabolic anomaly and the promotion of well-being at personal, community and workplace to reduce mortality. Methods: A survey of 398 long-distance commercial drivers in Abuja was conducted using systematic sampling technique and a semi-structured questionnaire. Blood pressure, height, weight, fasting cholesterol and blood glucose were determined. Obesity was defined as Body Mass Index (BMI) ?30 Kg/m2. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi square test and logistic regression at p <0.05. Conclusion: Obesity and its metabolic anomaly abound as public health importance level among respondents; therefore, periodic health screening, health education on modification of lifestyle, diet, physical exercise and ensured referral of respondents with obesity and its metabolic anomaly for clinical treatment in the health facilities are advised.
