Аннотация: This study examined family background and students’ academic performance in Environmental Education in the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. The population of the study comprised all the students in the Department of Environmental Education who have spent at least one academic year to final year in both NUC and CES programmes. Data used in the study was obtained through the use of questionnaire validated and tested for reliability before it was used in the main study. Independent t-test analysis was adopted for the study. The result revealed that, parental educational background, family size and parents’ occupation significantly influence students’ academic performance.
