Аннотация: Kenya Competency Based Curriculum demands that ECDE teaching approaches to be directed towards competencies and less on content to enable application of knowledge by the learner. This book looks at the extent to which pre-primary teachers in West Pokot County ECDE centered utilized child centered methods of learning; child needs approach, child interest approach, child discovery approach and activity based approach towards teaching and learning of the following activities; mathematics, languages, sciences, psychomotor and creative activities. Through a survey, it was found out that pre-primary teachers often used child centered methods in teaching and learning. The study concludes that pre-primary teachers continuous use of child centered methods resulted to improved in teaching and learning of the four activities in West Pokot County public pre-primary centers. Nevertheless, challenges existed in teaching due to inadequate provision of instructional facilities and teachers moderate level of awareness on the requirements of the new competency based curriculum.
