Аннотация: Chapter One generally introduces the whole work and it includes background information, statement of the problem, research questions, objectives of the study, significance of the study/justification of the study, methodology literature review and scope of the study.Chapter Two deals with local community’s perception of forest management regimes; it also looks at cultural influence on forest perception and forest use among the Tiriki community. It is also deals with consumption of Non-timber forest products in Kakamega Forest.Chapter Three deals International Conventions relating to forestry. It explores various international and regional conventions that act as the basis of standard setting in the management of forests in Kenya. Chapter Four will generally make an inventory of the legal and institutional framework for the management of forests in Kenya.Chapter Five deals with a review of forest management regimes in other countries including case studies from South Africa, Uganda and Liberia. Chapter Six contains the conclusion drawn from the study. It also includes requisite recommendations which should be embraced in order to foster and enhance participation.
