Аннотация: Today “bio-diesel” is the term applied to the esters of simple alkyl fatty acids used as an alternative to petroleum-based diesel fuels. Importance of biodiesel in the recent context increases due to increasing petroleum prices; limited fossil fuel reserves and environmental benefits. Due to these factors, and due to its easy biodegradability, the production of biodiesel is considered an advantage over that of fossil fuels. Research and studies came up with an alternative and intensified process to produce Biodiesel using Ultrasound. Ultrasound process proves to be efficient in terms of many factors like the requirement of alcohol and catalyst, reaction time, Yield. The aspect considered in the research project is to develop and design a methodology for Ultrasonic Process. Hence our main aim was to study the effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the production of biodiesel from different feedstock with both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. Results obtained from the experiments carried out to produce Biodiesel using Ultrasound clearly signifies that Ultrasound is an efficient and intensified medium for the production of Biodiesel in shorter times with Higher Yields.
