Extra oral Maxillofacial Prosthodontics concerned with restoration, replacement or both of stomatognathic and associated facial structures by artificial substitutes.The face is the patient’s contact with the world, and it forms the physical basis for personal recognition.The primary objective in each case is to construct a prosthesis, which will restore the defect, improve aesthetics and there by benefit the morale of patient. The improvements in esthetics and function are not only essential to the patient’s physical well being, but they also contribute to his mental attitude. Success in Maxillofacial Prosthetics as in Prosthodontics depends on full cognizance of the principles that underlie facial harmony, color matching, anchorage and retention, weight bearing and leverage, durability and strength of materials used, tissue compatibility and tolerance. This book is intended to cover the extra oral maxillofacial prosthesis that includes ocular, orbital, nasal, auricular and midfacial defects.
