Аннотация: The counter flow shell and tube heat exchanger plays a vital role in a various industries like chemical processing plant, nuclear power plant, thermal power plant etc. The numerical simulation of shell and tube type heat exchanger with helical and segmental baffles are carried out. In this numerical simulation of STHX of 1 shell and 7 tubes containing spiral baffle having a 50 mm pitch and 5 number of segmental baffle fitted at equispaced. In this book various operational parameters used like mass flow rate of cold and hot water, hot water temperature and geometrical parameters like spiral width, segmental baffle size are studied. The heat transfer characteristics like heat transfer rate, effectiveness and thermal efficiency of STHX is evaluated. In this project the shell and tube heat exchanger numerical modeling, meshing and fluent as solver is done using Ansys 14.5. From this numerical simulation it is observed that spiral and segmental baffle can effectively improve the heat transfer performance of heat exchanger. Due to that cost reduction as well as space requirement in power plant is also less. Numerical result are validated with available literature and found to be valid.
