Morality and Social Instability in West African Literature:. A Reading of Selected Novels by Chinua Achebe and Ayi Kwei Armah

      Аннотация: Despite the countless resources (both natural and human) that good fortune has endowed Africa with, it remains sunk in destitution. Nevertheless, all these assets are unquestionable guarantee of economic prosperity and sustainable development and should place the cradle of humankind at the top of the developed world. Unfortunately, mostly due to endogenous factors, most African countries still are a long way from achieving economic growth. Among the factors that jeopardise Africa’s economic prosperity, there are mainly mismanagement of the continent’s economic and political matters at the top of the state, and the thorny issue of corruption.The purpose of this dissertation is to show that in Chinua Achebe’s and Ayi Kwei Armah’s selected novels, the mismanagement of the economic and political affairs of a country generally leads to the deposition of corrupt regimes and to the stakeholders’ ostracism.
