Аннотация: This book focuses on the Africo-American she-novelist, Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye regarding Bakhtinian theories. First, it pertains to the theoretical issues and analyzes a particular kind of hero called novelistic hero and his features. This hero is classified into three various heroes: carnivalised hero, chronotopic hero, and architectonic hero. Each hero obtains his especial criteria. Second, it concentrates on Morrison’s style in characterization of her heroes, who might achieve, quite often, the same features as Bakhtinian novelistic hero might. The main concern of the work is to analyze the affinities between Morrisonian and Bakhinian heroes. Some of these heroes are accomplished in their confrontation with life and its predicaments, but some not. The successful heroes are those who know when, where, how, and to whom make relation, the outstanding example of whom are the members of the MacTeers’ family. The failed heroes, the members of the Breedloves’ family, are those who do not know the technique of relation-making or architectonics. Eventually, the thesis shows the true type of relation in which there might be love and solidarity not hostility and hegemony.
