Аннотация: Coronaviruses are a family of RNA viruses that are enveloped, single-stranded, positive strand. This family of coronavirus consists of pathogens of several animal and human species, including SARS-CoV, Novel COVID-19 but now referred to as SARS-CoV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) coronaviridae Study Group. SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the genus Betacoronavirus and family Coronaviridae. The virus has spread worldwide since its discovery, causing thousands of deaths and significantly affecting our health systems and economies. There are currently no licensed medications or treatment approaches to prevention. Numerous preclinical and clinical trials have been conducted to identify successful therapies. This review contains an extensive critical discussion on the recently documented clinical trials for COVID-19 treatment and prevention to provide a summary and insight into the global response.
