Аннотация: This book deals with the detailed explanation regarding the processing, mechanical characterization and optimization of wear behaviour of AA (Aluminium Alloy) 6082 metal matrix composites reinforced with micro alumina (Al2O3) and Nano silicon nitride (Si3N4) particles. AA 6082 alloy possess high strength and refined grain structure than other aluminium 6XXX alloys due to the presence of increased content of manganese and silicon respectively in its microstructure. Metal matrix composites prepared of aluminium 6XXX alloys has been used as replacement for conventional materials such as cast iron in automotive applications such as brake rotor, push rod, connecting rods etc.Significant improvement in mechanical and wear behaviour have been observed in AA6082 reinforced with micro Al2O3 and Nano Si3N4 particles compared to unreinforced alloy and single-phase alumina reinforced composites. To study the multi factor response of wear rate and coefficient of friction, the procedure for the utilization of Grey Relation Analysis with the aid of Taguchi's experimental design has been explained.
