Аннотация: There is significance to the discussion of the empowerment of women as an approach to discuss gender inequalities in regards to women in leadership roles. Traditionally, gender has dictated prearranged roles for men and women in society. These gender roles typically depict traditional roles in the work force, in the home, civic responsibilities, and civil rights. Women are disproportionally impacted by society’s view of traditional gender roles. Though there have been gains for women’s civil rights, women still face disparities, especially in leadership roles. An approach to overcoming gender role barriers is the empowerment of women. Women empowerment can take many forms, nonetheless; empowerment is understood to be necessary for women to gain the admiration and respect they deserve in regards to their ability to lead. Specifically women seeking roles in educational leadership face discrimination. Most teachers are female, however males fill the majority of roles, as educational leaders, such as principals, superintendents, and those working in higher education.
