Pain Management in Paediatric Dentistry.

      Аннотация: The control of pain while performing dental procedures is one of the basic principles in behavior management. Prevention of pain during dental procedure can nurture the relationship of the patient and dentist, building trust, allaying fear, anxiety and promotes a positive dental attitude.In paediatric dentistry there has been continuous effort to ensure a painless dental care, maximizing comfort, corporation and compliance. It is very common that inadequate pain management may have significant physical and psychological consequences for patient.As far as pain management in paediatric dentistry are concerned various approaches are there that provides a systematic way of evaluating and managing patient’s pain using combined pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies. Non pharmacological interventions performed by child specialist professionals such as distraction and relaxation techniques can help to decrease anxiety and fear. Also it can be used with pharmacological agents as comprehensive approach to needle pain procedure. Local anesthesia forms the backbone of pain control techniques in dentistry and has a major role in dentistry for children.
